A distraction is anything that sways energy away from a focal point.
Distractions come in different forms such as telephones, television, radio, newspaper, people, games, problems, etc… Often, distractions prevent connections with True Self and dissuade people from focusing on a conscious goal.
When a distraction begins to diminish, other distractions can invade.
For example, if someone is trying to meditate, they may notice that their telephone will not stop ringing. Once they acknowledge this as an obvious distraction and shut off the phone, they may find that the doorbell starts to ring, a dog begins to bark, or their neighbor decides to mow their lawn.
