True Self does not control a person’s character since everyone has free choice at all times.
For example, Laila always knew that she wanted an extravagant lifestyle. In order to obtain her dream, her character worked hard and eventually was able to get all the physical possessions she desired. She chased her dreams and got it.
If Laila had been connected to her True Self, she would have known it was possible to achieve the same results without needing to work as hard. She could have used this information and chosen to let her dreams come to her.
Ultimately, while your destination is predetermined, the path you take to get there is your choice.
I can honestly say that I wish my True self could control my character. I could have avoided so many mistakes had I listened to that inner voice. Then again if True Self did control my character would my character still exist?
